Cancelling a Direct Debit or a Recurring Payment
Before you begin the cancellation of a regular payment, you must check what kind of regular payment that you are cancelling. The payment will be either a direct debit or a recurring payment. The most significant difference between the two forms of payment is where the money is drawn from.
Direct Debit
In a direct debit, the payment will have been set up from one of your bank accounts such as a savings or transaction account. If you need to cancel this form of payment, Arab Bank Australia is able to assist you with this.
How to Cancel a Direct Debit
If you download and complete this cancellation form, and submit it to us in a branch, we will be able to assist you with cancelling your direct debit payment.
Please note: when cancelling a direct debit from a joint account, both account holders need to cancel the direct debit. You can do this by visiting us in a branch or by being on the phone call together, if calling a branch.
Recurring Payment
A recurring payment will have been set up from your debit or credit card. If you have set up a recurring payment, you will need to contact the merchant directly to cancel this form of payment.
Important to Note
As your Bank, we will work with you to the best of our ability to assist you with matters related to cancellations of direct debits and recurring payments. However, it is important to note that cancelling your direct debit or recurring payment does not cancel your contract with the merchant. If you still have a contract with the merchant and have cancelled a direct debit, you will need to make alternate payment arrangements with them.
