February 2009The bushfires that have recently ravaged many parts of Victoria have been described as amongst the worst in recent history. The devastating fires have taken many lives, and left hundreds and perhaps thousands of families without shelter, clothing or possessions. As part of our longstanding commitment to support the communities we serve, Arab Bank Australia has donated $10,000 to the "2009 Bushfire Fund", an initiative launched by Victorian Premier John Brumby in partnership with the Red Cross and the Federal Government, set up to assist individuals and communities affected by the devastating bushfires. "We have been a part of the greater Melbourne community for many years, and these fires have directly and indirectly affected many of our customers, their friends and families. Providing financial assistance to those that need support during this unimaginably difficult time is a natural extension of our core values of which supporting and serving the community is one" said James Wakim, Managing Director. Donations to the Red Cross can be made online, or over the telephone, by visiting www.redcross.org.au or calling 1800 811 700 < Back to Events and Community Initiatives
